What is Theatre Camp?
This is an opportunity for young people to learn all about theatre with hands on activities and workshop style instruction.In the mornings, campers will participate in classes in Musical Theatre, Acting, Broadway Dance, How to Audition, Scene Study and Stage Make-up. In the afternoons, campers will be able to experience the 3 P’s of theatre….Producing, Promoting, and Performing! Campers will learn about sets, props, costumes and make-up as well as market and perform their One- Act Play!
What else is included?
On the first Friday of camp, campers are invited to participate in a field trip to experience a performance of The Lost Colony, the outdoor drama in Manteo, N.C.* The field trip includes a full day of activity in the Outer Banks; lunch on the fishing pier, dinner in Manteo, and attendance at the show. Campers will also receive a back stage tour of The Lost Colony and can participate in a Question & Answer session with the performers. This field trip is optional and is NOT included in the cost of camp. Campers age 10 and under will be required to bring an adult chaperone on this trip.
The final Friday of each camp session is Performance Day! Following a Hot Dog lunch, campers will showcase all their hard work and talents for their families and friends. Family and friends are also invited to attend the morning classes on Thursday and Friday of the final week.
A Hurrah Players Camp T-shirt will be given to each camper.
What ages is camp for?
Camp is for ages 5 to 18. They will be placed in smaller groups based on their age once they arrive at camp.
What will my camper need to bring?
They will need to bring a non-perishable bag lunch with them each day. We have a snack and soda machine on site. Campers will eat together here at the studio. Only water will be allowed outside of the lunch break. Campers should also be dressed in clothes and shoes that are comfortable and allow them to move freely.
When is camp?
We have three sessions to choose from:
- Session 1: July 7th - July 18th
- Session 2: July 21st - August 1st
- Session 3: August 4th - August 15th
Sessions are held Monday through Friday from 9:00am - 3:30pm, however, camp will NOT be held at the studio on the Friday of the Field Trip to the Outer Banks.
How much and how do we register?
Fees do NOT include the field trip to the Outer Banks. A separate fee and form will be required for campers choosing to participate in the field trip.
- Camp fee: $285
- Registration fee: $10 (non-refundable)
To register for camp, please download and complete the registration form. It can be faxed, mailed or brought to our office in person. Payment is due at the time of registration. It is strongly recommended to register early as we do fill our camps quickly. Prior to the start of the camp for which you have registered, you will receive a confirmation letter that will include more detailed information about the camp, field trip and our company.
