THE ROPER THEATRE | SCHOOL MATINEES

PERFORMANCES» SCHOOL MATINEES

Each season The Hurrah Players offers a wonderful opportunity for area students in public, private and home school groups to attend the theatre at an affordable price! The productions fit into the SOL curriculum. This is such a wonderful way to have students learn about theatre, music and life's lessons. The productions open many areas for discussion for you and your students! We are very lucky to have our productions in the TCC Roper Performing Arts Center located on Granby Street.

See our Performances page for a listing of the productions available for school shows

All of our shows are at 10:00am leaving you with perfect timing to meet your daily school requirements. Teachers may make reservations for as many of the productions as they wish by using the Hurrah Players School Show Reservation Form. We require a minimum of 20 attendees to reserve your spot. In the event that we have less than 20 seats available, we will reserve in smaller groups. Payment may be made by check, money order or credit card. No payments will be accepted at the door to ensure seating moves smoothly.

School shows are contracted events and reservations must be made by written request. Email your request to Lisa Wallace at lisahurrahplayers1@verizon.net or send it via fax at 757.623.7418. Guest tickets for school shows are $7.00. For every 15 students, one adult attends free!

There are no refunds for absent students.

Groups attending the school matinee performances should enter through the back stage doors of the Roper Theatre.

The Hurrah Players
School Show Matinee Booking Policies

1. Call or email Hurrah Players to make sure space is available for your group.

2. Print and fill out the “Request for Reservations” form and mail or Fax to The Hurrah Players. Please fill out ALL the information asked for on this form.

3. Once you request has been sent, you will receive a phone call “confirmation”. This is done immediately, therefore if you have not received a call; please call us to make sure we received your form.

4. A Contract will be sent reflecting your group numbers. If your numbers do change, please call us first to ensure we have space available to add. We do ask that you do not drop your numbers by any more than ten (10).

5. We do not do individual ticket sales for our School Shows. Please do not have any parent or chaperone call us to add themselves on. We are contracted with the TCC Roper Performing Arts Center and have to follow their policies. Only the teacher may reserve the seats needed and must include all parents/chaperones at the time of the request.

6. No one will be admitted that is not listed in the numbers on your contract.

7. If a new student arrives, please do call to see if we have space available. If we do, we will add them onto your numbers.

8. If for any reason you find you cannot attend, please do not assume by NOT sending the contract back to me that I know you are not coming. Please call. Most schools have a 4-6 week turnaround for transportation. We want to allow other groups the time needed to book in your place.

9. School show prices are $7.00 per person. For every 15 STUDENTS attending, one adult attends free. How you use the free adult seating is up to you.

10. If you need wheelchair area seating, this must be included on your “Request for Reservations” form. Same thing applies to hearing/sight impaired guest.

11. There are no refunds for any guest that is contracted and does not attend.

12. Please arrive to the theatre between 9:30 and 9:55 am. The shows all begin at 10:00am. If you are running late, just call and let us know. Call the Hurrah Players and NOT the Roper Theatre.

13. The restrooms are in the lobby by the TCC “testing” center. We do ask that the noise level be kept down while going to the restrooms. Please keep them clean.

14. Groups are seated in order of age/grade levels so that they can see. On some instances, the amount of seats sold does affect how the groups may be seated. On some occasions, groups may have to be split.

15. At the conclusion of your show, groups will be released in the order of which the police pull their buses up. We do appreciate your patience.
