Pixel Perfect Photography
This introductory course covers the fundamentals of DSLR (Digital Single-Lens reflex) photography, including camera settings, composition, basic lighting, and basic editing techniques in Photoshop or Lightroom. Perfect for those new to photography, students will learn how to capture stunning images and develop their creative eye. Feel free to bring your own camera, or use one of ours!
Motion Magic: Animation
Dive into the exciting world of animation in this beginner-friendly course using Adobe After Effects! Designed for students with basic computer skills on a Mac, this class introduces the fundamentals of motion graphics, keyframing, and visual effects.
Through hands-on projects, students will learn how to create dynamic animations, work with text and shape layers, apply transitions, and explore essential effects to bring their ideas to life. Whether you’re interested in animated storytelling, motion design, or enhancing video projects, this course will provide the tools and techniques to get started.
By the end of the class, students will complete a short animated project, gaining confidence in navigating After Effects and developing a strong foundation in digital animation. No prior animation experience is required—just creativity and a willingness to learn!
Script to Screen
A hands-on course where students collaborate in small groups to plan, write, and shoot 2 short films, developing skills in cinematography, directing, and production management. We’ll also produce several short projects between each film and explore shoot to edit scenarios and hand held camera movement techniques. Each student will then edit their own version of the project independently, refining their storytelling techniques and post-production abilities. The course emphasizes creative decision-making, technical proficiency, and teamwork while allowing for individual artistic expression in the editing process.
Advanced Animation 1
A follow-up course for students who have completed Motion Magic. In this class, learners will refine the foundational skills from the
previous session and advance from basic movement to creating truly lifelike animation.
Through a series of hands-on exercises and projects, students will apply the principles or animation to their own work, transforming simple motion into expressive, dynamic creations that feel alive, while also getting more practice on industry software such as After Effects.
Grateful Hurrah Players Highlight
Hurrah gave me a purpose and helped me discover my passion. I had such a sense of fulfillment at a young age because of The Hurrah Players and Hugh Copeland. It set the track for my career and life.
Through kindness, acceptance and love, Hurrah became a place most of us call home and people we call family. I can never replace the collection of incredible memories I have or the lessons I have learned. I believe anyone who joins will inevitably begin to feel this way and become part of our family.
